DEPOT, in collaboration with the Lega Basket Serie A Pallacanestro Varese team, presents an innovative series of 6 episodes featuring the players of the Pallacanestro Varese Basketball team. They will be welcomed to our DEPOT BARBER & CO. barbershop in Varese to share their personal and sports stories, past and present, whilst experiencing a distinctive DEPOT barbering session.

𝙽𝚘. 𝟸𝟸 – 𝙵𝚘𝚛𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚍

Sean McDermott was born on November 3rd, 1996 in Anderson, Indiana. He took his first steps on the court at Pendleton Heights High School and then landed a place at Butler University in the NCAA.
Thanks to his dangerously precise three-point shooting, he signed a contract with the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies, appearing on the court 18 times. His career continues in the G-League with Memphis Hustle and now in Italy with Pallacanestro Varese.
Family and especially faith in God are the main cornerstones of Sean’s life.

𝙽𝚘. 𝟼 – 𝙲𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚎

Scott Ulaneo was born in Rome to an Italian father and English mother, and he began his youth experience in the capital in the ranks of the “Stella Azzurra” (Blue Star). In 2016 he continued his path towards development by moving to the United States, playing two seasons with Seattle University, then with Hawaii Pacific University in NCAA2 first, and then finishing his university career with Davenport University. In 2021 he returned to Italy, signing with Brindisi and thus debuting for the first time in both the LBA and the Basketball Champions League. In February 2022 he was loaned to Eurobasket Roma, finishing his season with 8.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. In the 2022-2023 season he remained in A2 but moved to Cento. In the summer of 2023 he signed for Varese Basketball, thus returning to Serie A.

Skylar Rodrigo Spencer was born in Inglewood, California, on July 11th, 1994. After four years spent at San Diego State University, he began his career in Malaysia wearing the Kuala Lumpur Dragons jersey. After a season spent between the GLeague (Fort Wayne Mad Ants first, Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario after) and Venezuela (Guaros de Lara), in 2018-2019 he landed in Europe where he wore the Steaua Bucharest jersey, a team with which he also competed in the FIBA Europe Cup with an average of 16 points and 9.8 rebounds. The following year he split his time between Lithuania and Finland, while in 2020-2021 he was busy in Belgium in the ranks of Mons-Hainaut. In 2021-2022 he played for BK Astana, while last year he landed in Italy, in Trieste, averaging 8.2 points and almost 8 rebounds per game (the second best rebounder in the entire championship). At the beginning of this season he played in Mexico at the Libertadores de Queretaro, a team with which he reached the playoff semi-final, and then joined the Varese Basketball team from the 12th of December 2023.

𝙽𝚘. 𝟺 – 𝙿𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚝 𝙶𝚞𝚊𝚛𝚍

Niccolò Mannion was born in Siena on March 14, 2001. Shortly afterwards, his family moved to the United States, and Niccolò began to take his first steps in basketball on American soil. In 2015, he attended Pinnacle High School, where he scored incredible numbers, averaging more than 30 points per game. This performance was practically equalled in his first and only year of college spent at the Arizona Wildcats. At the end of the 2019-2020 season, he declared himself eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft. He was then selected by his idol Steph Curry’s team, the Golden State Warriors. In the NBA, he played thirty games, scoring a career-high 19 points against the Sacramento Kings, before returning to Europe, specifically Italy. He played for Virtus Bologna for two years, during which he won two Italian Super Cups and one EuroCup. He also had the opportunity to debut in the Euroleague. The experience continued this season with Baskonia, after which he signed a deal with Varese in December 2023. Despite his young age, Mannion has been a long-time member of the Italian national team and made his debut at the age of 17, making him the fourth youngest debutant in the team’s history.

Matteo Librizzi was born in Varese on 6 April 2002. He started playing basketball in the mini-basketball team of Robur et Fides Varese and later joined Pallacanestro Varese, where he spent his entire youth career. In the 2021-2022 season, he played for both Robur et Fides Varese and Pallacanestro Varese in Serie B. It was under the leadership of coach Johan Roijakkers that Matteo’s true potential was realised. He secured a permanent spot in the starting lineup and became a cornerstone of the Varese roster.

Leonardo Okeke was born in Monza on July 16, 2003.
He started his basketball career in the youth teams of College Basket Borgomanero and made his debut in Serie C Gold with them during the 2019-2020 season. He maintained an average of 16.9 points per game the following year. In the 2020-2021 season, he also played 7 games in Serie B with Oleggio. In the summer of 2021, he was purchased by Derthona Basket and loaned to Junior Basket Monferrato in Serie A2, where he averaged 9.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and was elected Best Under-21 player in the championship.
In the summer of 2023, Olimpia Milano, which holds the sporting rights, agreed to a two-year loan for the player from Pallacanestro Varese.
